Access to my TV anywhere I go!

Filed under: Gadgets — Jeffito @ 8:35 pm

I just stumbled upon the coolest looking product. The Slingbox. This may make my TV watching reach a whole new level. Basically in a nut shell it allows you to access your digital cable or PVR from any windows based PC in the world.

Sounds silly but there have been many times that I have been at work or on the road and I would have loved to watch something. I am thinking about buying it just so I don’t miss any of the World Cup this year!

Liking my iPod… loving Podcasts

Filed under: Cool Sites, Gadgets — Jeffito @ 7:43 pm

Well I have been using my 60 GB iPod for about 4 months now and I have been loving it. It is so simple to use and the battery life has been great (so far). I spent quite a few hours copying my CDs over and have actually been buying music from iTunes because it is simply so simple to use.

The one complaint I have is how iTunes on my PC constantly seems to be slow or have issues. It doesn’t always seem to recognize my iPod and then a few times it recognizes it but then it won’t update it. Each time I have had to rstore the iPod to the factory settings and then reimport everything. This took me endless time trying to figure this one out, but now it seems to be a fast way to fix this problem…. well sorta fast. I wonder if Mac people have this issue with iTunes on the Mac.

Although I love having all my music (23 GB) at my finger tips all the time, a couple months ago I fanally started downloading podcasts and well… I get it. It has completely changed the way I use my iPod. I listen to podcasts on the way to work and then during my day I often listen to different podcasts. So here is my list of my favorite podcasts

Onion Radio News - First one I listen to every day, has me laughing before I reach the subway.

New York Times Most Emailed Articles - James Barron, a reporter at The New York Times, discusses the three most e-mailed articles on NYTimes.com every weekday.

New York Times Front Page - James Barron, a reporter at The New York Times, summarizes the top headlines every weekday.

Buzz Out Loud - CNET’s entertaining and sometimes skeptical take on technology news. This one has become one of my must listen too podcasts everyday.

Pardon The Interruption - ESPN has just started this as a podcast and man am I happy. In Canada TSN shows PTI and they move the show from it’s 5:30 timeslot to some other time (or just don’t show it that day) whenevr some other sporting event is on. Something really exciting like a snooker tournament, etc. This means I am no longer dependent on TSN for my over / under hit.

ABC Nightline - Although I am a night owl this show now conflicts with the Colbert Report…. and well as a loyal member of the Colbert Nation I must make a choice. Now I can still listen in though.
