I was really interested to see that Yahoo is upping the storage amount to 1GB on their free mail accounts. This will bring them up to par with Google’s Gmail. I wonder how many folks (like myself) they have lost over the last year. With Gmail supposedly about to come out of beta I’m sure even more will switch over.
I have had the same yahoo email account for….. many 7 or 8 years. and I now only use it as my registration email account. You know the one you use when you register for stuff, but don’t want all the spam that comes along with it.
I think the only thing I miss is the calender. I really like getting reminders of friend’s B-Days, etc.
I found this article about the fact that 57% of gmail users came from Hotmail and 27% from Yahoo. Yahoo’s early storage bump up to 250MB must have stopped the bleeding. What is Hotmail thinking?

Discovered something recently and it appears to be the new “thing”. It’s called podcasting. Just as RSS feeds started popping up everywhere a year or so ago it appears that this may be the new way of syndicating audio content.
Podcasting is a process that puts audio files or “podcasts” online, and allows software installed on your PC to find and download the files to a computer. At this point you can play the audio file on your PC or personal media player.
Using podcast software (such as ipodder), you can subscribe to available radio shows. The software will automatically check for and download new programs to either your computer, or your media player. In my mind it is sorta like TiVo, but for radio broadcasts.
Although it appears that most of the podcasts are independent programs created by folks who have a particular interest or hobby. Suppose you are into politics, perhaps a podcast such as Grassroots.com: Happenings in Politics, Technology, and Activism or maybe movies are your thing then you would like Reel Reviews - Films Worth Watching. Even CBC is getting on the bandwagon.
Go to ipodder.org for a large list of podcasts by category or perhaps you want to see the latest podcasts. Have fun

I’ve sorta been a team lead within my group for awhile now but it has never been official. But last week my boss had to move to another project for 4 months so guess what…. I’m now da man.
So something I have always prided myself on trying to break the rules where I work (it’s about as bureaucratic as it can get) and I have generally been rewarded for trying to think and act different within our workplace.
So what about the jokes I always make about “sticking it to da man”? If I am the man now you know what that means…… I’m sticking it to myself. And well…. You know what that means….
I always wear jeans or shorts at work and I (like many I.T. folks) have never felt that just cause you have a suit on you know what you’re talking about. So for the past couple days, I’ve had everyone teasing me that I’ll have to start wearing a suit. So me being me I decided to wear my one suit last Thursday to see if I was more efficient with my “power suit” on. Surprisingly I wasn’t
I have to admit though I had some great reactions from people. Probably the best was one of the executive directors walking up and congratulating me on the promotion and then looked me up and down and called me a sellout! LOL - That was probably about the funniest thing I heard all day.
So there it is….. Now da man is sticking it to me.
